Website Context

The New Members Committee provided the impetus for developing our own website, because we feel that it’s important to define our community to the world and not rely on ICA to do that for us.

However, the website belongs to the community and we’d like input from all of you. So feel free to browse through it and give us your feedback on this page.

Page Context

This page exists to explain what we’re trying to do and seek your feedback. We want to the website to represent the whole community. The feedback form is at the bottom of the page

The website is a WordPress Website and hosted on Steve Ediger’s Dreamhost account.

• This hosting doesn’t cost anything because he can host as many websites as he wants on this account.
• The advantages of hosting it in WordPress are
  • Many folks are familiar with WordPress, so if Steve is incapacitated for some reason, others like Teague can take over.
  • It’s portable; the WordPress website can easily be moved to any new host within an hour

To Do List

This is a very general to do list and does not address everything that we’re planning at this point. It should give you an idea of some things on our to do list. Some of these will require general discussion in the community. If a menu choice does not work, it probably means that we have not gotten to it yet.

• Procure a domain name

• Develop a style guide which includes
  • A GreenRise Intentional Community logo
  • Typography (type faces, sizes
  • A unified color scheme
  • Design elements (like section separators, etc.)
• Create the following pages
  • General description of the community
  • History of the community
  • Community Membership Applications (in progress)
  • Contact form for general information
• Email
  • Create generic email addresses that get forwarded to all committee members, like new-members@greenrise.community
  • Decide on whether we should offer email addresses to every community member (these would associate you with the community, but get forwarded to your personal email) (to be discussed.
